Whitney Institute, Bermuda
The Bermuda Bicycle Association’s road race season resumed in strong form with the V.T. Construction Road Race, hosted by Dominique Mayho and held at the Whitney Institute circuit. The morning featured competitive racing across all categories, with two separate starts: Categories A & B launched first, followed by the Category C and Women’s field.
A Category
In a fiercely contested 7-lap, 48.25-mile race, Matt Boys (Winners Edge) claimed the overall victory with a time of 1:56:27. Veteran pro Tyler Butterfield (Independent) finished second in 1:57:24, while Steven Smith (V.T. Construction) clinched third after a tight sprint finish in 1:59:01, narrowly edging out Dylan Eiselt and Will Drea, who also finished strong.
B Category
Wayne Scott (Winners Edge) took top honours with a time of 1:59:43, followed by Alan Mooney (Independent) in 2:09:01, and McQuinn Burch (Bicycle Works) in 2:09:46, rounding out a competitive podium.
C Category
The C Division delivered one of the most exciting finishes of the day, with seven riders sprinting to the line. Tracy Wright (Winners Edge) secured the win in 1:31:17, narrowly ahead of Gianluca Bortoli (Independent) and Sanchez Smith (V.T. Construction), both finishing just seconds apart at 1:31:20.
Women’s Category
Arlene MacGuinness (Winners Edge) led from start to finish, taking a clear victory in 1:52:59 over teammate Skye Ferguson, who finished in 1:55:37. Both showed impressive strength and consistency across the 5-lap, 34.45-mile course.
