2026 UCI Road World Championships, September 20–27

Bermuda’s flag will be flying in Montréal as Nicholas Narraway and Kaden Hopkins represent the island at the 2026 UCI Road World Championships, September 20–27.

Both riders will contest the elite men’s individual time trial, with Narraway also lining up for the elite men’s road race. Supporting them will be Peter Dunne as team manager and Dominique Mayho as team mechanic, providing the practical and technical support behind Bermuda’s campaign.

Racing against the clock

First up is the elite men’s time trial on Sunday, September 20. The approximately 40-kilometre course is largely flat but technical, taking riders through Montréal and the Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve, with river crossings along the route.

Nic and Kaden will race individually against the clock, measuring themselves against the world’s leading time-trial specialists. Pacing, sustained power and precise cornering will all play a part in delivering their strongest possible rides.

For Kaden, the event comes after a challenging year. The course looks well suited to his time-trial strengths, offering an opportunity to put that difficult season behind him and deliver a ride he can be proud of on the world stage.

A demanding road race

On Sunday, September 27, Narraway faces approximately 273 kilometres and more than 3,700 metres of climbing. Starting in Brossard, the route heads into Montréal for 12 laps of the Mount Royal circuit, including repeated ascents of Camillien-Houde and Polytechnique.

The distance, climbing and strength of the international field make this an exceptional test of endurance and race craft. Positioning, fuelling and responding to repeated changes in pace will be crucial. As Bermuda’s sole representative in the road race, Nic will also face nations with several riders working together.

Nic heads to Montréal after finishing 39th at the 200-kilometre Philadelphia Cycling Classic against WorldTour professionals and 12th overall at the Green Mountain Stage Race, where he helped Competitive Edge Racing secure a final-stage one-two finish. Both provided valuable preparation, but Worlds represents a significant step up in distance, difficulty and depth of competition.

Bermuda, let’s hear you!

The Bermuda Bicycle Association is calling on all Bermudians in Montréal to come out and support our riders. Wear your pink and blue, bring your Bermuda flags and make some noise along the course!

Representing Bermuda at Worlds is an honour, and seeing familiar colours and hearing encouragement from the roadside can mean so much. Whether you live in Montréal or are visiting for the championships, help us give Nic and Kaden a strong Bermuda welcome.

Let’s go, Bermuda!
