Flying the Flag: Bermudas Cyclists Deliver on the Pan American Stage

Bermuda’s cyclists proudly rose to the occasion at the 2025 Pan American Road and Mountain Bike Championships, competing against some of the best in the Americas and proving that our small island continues to produce world-class talent.

In Punta del Este, Uruguay, the road cycling events saw Charlotte Millington, Nic Narraway, and Kaden Hopkins take on elite-level competition. Charlotte, making her Pan Am debut, raced in both the Junior Women’s Individual Time Trial and Road Race. Competing solo against large national teams, she delivered an impressive performance — placing 11th in the time trial, and 24th in the road race, finishing with the same time as the winner after a gutsy chase back to the peloton following a mid-race crash.

In the elite men’s field, Nic and Kaden took on the best riders from across 21 nations. Both athletes finished in the top ten in the individual time trial, despite a flat course that favoured larger, more powerful riders. In the gruelling 198km road race, they stayed with the lead group for the full 4.5 hours of racing. Kaden crossed the line in 10th and Nic in 19th, both credited with the same time as the winner — a true reflection of their strength and preparation.

Meanwhile, in Heredia, Costa Rica, Robin Horsfield represented Bermuda in the Pan American Mountain Bike Championships. Racing in both the Short Track (XCC) and the Cross-Country Olympic (XCO), Robin placed 24th in Elite and 36th overall in the XCC, and 39th in the XCO — his best showing to date at this level. His results mark progress and promise, especially as this race kicked off his competitive season.

Behind every athlete’s success is a team. We extend our sincere gratitude to Mark Brown, Wenda and Clifford Roberts, and Peter Dunne, who travelled in support of the athletes. Their presence, expertise, and commitment ensured our riders could focus on performing at their best.

Bermuda may be small, but our athletes continue to prove that with the right support and dedication, we can compete with the best. The Bermuda Bicycle Association is proud of this team and grateful to the Department of Sport & Recreation for helping make these opportunities possible.

Upcoming Events: BBA National Championships Return This June

By the Bermuda Bicycle Association

The Bermuda Bicycle Association (BBA) is preparing to host two of its three annual National Championship events this June, marking a major highlight on the local cycling calendar.

On Thursday, 19 June, the Bermuda National Time Trial Championships will challenge riders’ endurance, speed, and mental focus as they race individually against the clock. Just days later, on Sunday, 22 June, the Bermuda National Road Championships.

These Championship will bring together the island’s best cyclists—including elite riders returning from overseas competition—for a high-stakes road race. These events offers local cyclists the rare opportunity to test themselves against world-class talent and provides Bermuda’s elite cyclist with a chance to earn UCI points, which are essential for improving their international rankings.

Top Bermudian athletes expected to compete include:

  • Kaden Hopkins (Uni Sport Lamentinois – Guadeloupe)

  • Conor White (MucOff–SRCT–Storck – United Kingdom)

  • Nic Narraway (Tenerife BikePoint La Sede – Spain)

  • Gabby Arnold (LA Sweat – United States)

These championships hold national significance, with winners earning prestigious titles, national recognition, and consideration for national team selection. Victorious riders are often presented with a national champions jersey, designed with the Bermuda flag, to be worn throughout the racing season by the teams they represent.

The events are officially recognised by the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI), the world governing body of cycling, adding further weight to the competition.
