Commonwealth Games

Bermuda is one of 56 nations and territories that make up the Commonwealth—a voluntary association connected through shared history, values, and sport. For Bermuda, the Commonwealth Games are a rare chance to race on one of the world’s biggest multi-sport stages, shoulder to shoulder with cycling’s powerhouses.

  • Birmingham 2022

    Spotlight: Hopkins’ 11th place in the Time Trial was one of Bermuda’s best modern-day results, proving our athletes can mix with the world’s elite in an event dominated by professional trade team riders.

Commonwealth Youth Games

The Commonwealth Youth Games give young athletes their first taste of international competition in a multi-sport setting. For Bermuda, these Games have been a launchpad—where teenagers with raw talent have transformed into international medal contenders.​

  • Bahamas 2017

    Spotlight: Oliveira’s gold and bronze medals in Nassau marked a historic moment for Bermuda cycling, inspiring a surge of young riders and setting him on a path to professional competition. Rowse’s double podium performance in the women’s events added to the celebration, showing Bermuda could compete across both men’s and women’s fields.

    • Alyssa Rowse – Bronze, Women’s Individual Time Trial; 4th, Women’s Road Race

    • Kaden Hopkins – 6th, Men’s Individual Time Trial

  • Isle of Man 2011

    • Spotlight: Mayho’s appearance in 2011 helped pave the way for Bermuda’s next generation. He later went on to win multiple Caribbean titles, showing how early exposure to international racing builds lasting champions.
